This poppy painting really exploits the

sumptuous vibrant qualities of oil paint.

It forms a cornerstone in my collection

of floral pieces, dating from around the

late 90′s. I have always loved poppies,

and I can remember them populating the

edges of the strawberry fields that

surrounded my childhood home in Kent,

England. The contrast of the velvet petals_______

with the purple and green centers is

stunning, and the more one investigates

the details of this plant, the more

fascinating it is.
